Aye, I've a Muji Studio DAC II where I've been upgrading parts in it that sounds really very nice.... I expect the Abbas will be a significant step up from it though  :)

oh I see, all the pictures are gone.... what a pity! perhaps I can reconstruct the one or other, but this will take quite some time...

for the moment, to bring back to memory what it is all about here a picture from 2012 when Shinichi Tanaka from Goto Society had visited us and didn't leave the focus for more than an hour or so...

on the other hand I had a visit from Japan, form Kasonobu Kobayashi... you might remember the guy with the one (running) of three world wide known owners of Euronor/Siemens/Klangfilm (all originals). he visited Germany last year and some highest end systems...

meanwhile has published an article of some german systems (Klangfilm and Goto, and Klaus's and mine) in Stereo Sound 2010, Tube & Analog, Nr. 95, pages 173-182

unfortunately I am not allowed to put copies and/or pictures on the net... and unfortunately the whole text is in japanes... so even I do not understand a single word...

but Kasanobu has announed that he will make a translation into english for us when he has got time...

if that is o.k., then when I will have gotten it I surely will put in on here...
WoW i almost forgot. amazing.

So, did any of you guys end up going ahead with buying one of these?

I've an Abbas Audio DAC2.2SE TDA1541A on order. I'll swap out the chip for a Holland made TDA1541A S1 I have once recieved. I've high expectations of it  :)
I think any good TDA1541A base DAC will sound great to varying degrees. The chip has so much going for it, its hard to make them sound ordinary. I key to greatness is running a valve output. They can be excellent without, but just better with the valve out. But what valve to use.

Transports / Re: Raspberry PI transport with I2S output into TDA1541A

This pic shows the main reason, why I use Roon.

Multiple end points.

There are other reasons, why Roon is nice.

As you can see, the Raspberry Pi, is just one end point in my home.

If you look closely, the different end points can and do play different tracks from the library, or from my integrated Tidal streaming service, or any Internet radio station.  All easily accessible through my Roon client.

Hey Mr Oz,

Just interested in what media player you are using with your Raspberry Pi and what system are you loading on to it?
:D Cheers :D

I use Roon in the back end,,, it doesn't reside in my audio system.   I have a headless Rock server, that holds the database indexes to my music files stored on NAS.

Roon client on my phone and/or tablet, talks to the Rock server to queue music, and tells it to stream to my desired endpoint.

It is a different architecture, and it means, I do not need a PC in my audio system to enjoy music. I just need a convenient smart device with the roon client.    The rock server sits in my computer room.

Here is some more info....

Resistors / Re: Resistor games

Agreed, Steve, I lost it at one point chasing ultimate detail and only focusing on that, only to loose the body...or meat on the bones, lesson learnt there :)

Have some AB's to replace the drain/balancing resistors on the Mundorf HV main filter caps, not sure how much difference they might make with a change but as I find components in the PS do show their sound signature often, and especially in a valve amp I'll change them and see.
