Guys, need some advice about how to remove tin plating from copper wire. I (impulsively) bought western electric wire on the bay because I thought it wasn't tinned. How wrong I was coz when I received the wire it's all tinned >:(
I'm looking for a way to chemically remove the tin by dissolving the tin, that way the copper is not gonna be scratched/damaged. Anyone here got an experience to share? See attached pic for my western electric wire.
Cheers,
William

Thanks Mario, I've read that thread but I'm not competent to do the suggested solutions. Looking for something that's available to the general public and safe to use or service provider to remove the plating, maybe something like this http://www.schloetter.co.uk/stripping-and-pretreatment/tin-strip.htm

How does it sound with the plating?

Good question Andy, I haven't tried, it's just Steve is not keen on the wire so it can't be good.
