oOOo AN DAC 6! hahaha

The more pics, the merrier I say!    We all love pics!

So what did this DAC start off as and then what mods did you perform to it Erik?   What type of output stage (ie. what type of valve) is it running?    Is it running AD1865NK or 1704?

It once started off as a Audio Note dac 3 after a few years I started to enlarge the power supply with individual trafo's.
Peter van Willenswaard nearly rebuilt the entire circuit making it a NOS dac with NO digital filtering and valve regulation, Tent Lab clock . etc etc

After that I started to make it a 2 box operation in order to fulfill our crazy ideas that needed space Anton and myself implemented loads of shunts and "bettered" most of the existing components, a lot of hardwiring and rerouting...even cutting the print in half...super regulators....you name it...we could not get more crazy.....

I guess taking a look at the many pics on the dutch forum says it all   ;D

This thing sounds so damned analog now you almost start to appreciate cd's...hahahahahaha..(I have got 3500 original cd's  :-X )

Yesterday a major mod...... implementation of the duelunds... 8)

Nope  ;D

Advice...you can do as I did and buy eg. an Audionote DAC 3 (the old one) and start rebuilding/perfecting it over the years...much cheaper than buying and selling dacs...and you can customize it to your liking and the looks can be anything you want as well.... 8)

You can do the same with a killerdac ofcourse...the outside can be made the same... no matter what's inside... :)

Received a mail that within 1-2 weeks they are mine

Two Audio Note Trans 404 (Dac 3) Solid Silver Trafo's

I am also a happy camper that they changed/upgraded the core material since the "standard" core material is becoming harder to find...ofcoarse they left the price (so far) alone........ahum..... from expensive to still bloody expensive... :-X

For the price I think Jensen transformers are hard to beat. They also give you a data sheet.

Where is the traffo used - is this an I-V application?

cheers

Yepp they are gonna replace my copper winded Audionote interstages.

I am not in the situation to test both the Jensen and Audionote in my  "Dac-6" so I cannot judge.
Although it would not be the first time that another make tops the Audionote results ( in my configuration).

I do not give a sh-t about brandnames so openminded all the way..... ;)
