Transport "The Pitbull" (DIY project)
« on: December 30, 2010, 04:36:56 AM »
Hi

As requested a picture of my cd-transport...made from scratch with much electronic help of my audio-friend.....all starting with a boombox laser. :-X

http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digital-source/120229-finally-affordable-cd-transport-shigaclone-story.html?perpage=25&pagenumber=1

I come in somewhere page 40-50

I did not post much in the end anymore because I wildly disagree with Peter Daniel...and since he is the living example overthere... ;D

I have also have the build on a dutch forum but with dutch language... ;)

Hi Erik. Thanks for sharing.

So you are the guy who built the crazy transport I was drooling over on DIYaudio.    Always been curious to know how those shigaclones fair up against something like the old modded marantz players as transports.   Have you done any comparisons ?

Have you got any more photos of your whole setup (ie. speakers etc)?   Maybe start a thread in our showcase section? :)

Keep up the great work!

I have posted my speakers (most complexed project I ever did) with a link.

Here a few more transport pics.
For me this contraption gets as close as possible to the analogue sound....it discourages a lot of transport-top names. ;)
Mind you my "PitBull" Transport has nothing to do with the Shigaclones (that was only the first couple of weeks or so....)  ;D

It looks awesome,  I bet it sounds brilliant !   Nice work.
It's all about the music,, not the equipment.

Erik,

'Gefeliciteerd!' - it looks incredible. I've seen this over at DIYA but didn't have time to
follow it up too much.

I'm planning to build a transport next year myself and have some pretty cool ideas.

Today I made a puck-rest.
The little puck sometimes flips on the floor.
Besides being practical I think it gives the PitBull-transport Design more "balance"... :)
