CD Rom quality in cheapie laptop?
« on: June 30, 2013, 02:26:52 PM »
I need to buy a cheapie (sub $400) laptop pretty much for organising music, ripping and burning discs. I'll be using it for wireless browsing as well but the best quality internal CD Rom (or the least crap) would be my preferred option. I would be interested in a recommendation between Asus, HP or Toshiba.

Down the track I'll get a quality external CD Rom such as the Yamaha F1 but for now I just want to buy the best internal CD Rom on offer and these 3 brands seem similar in other respects and are similar prices. I use dBPoweramp for ripping and burning. My last laptop has been on its last legs for months and has now become unusable without wanting to throw it out the window.

cheers

Nathan

I sell laptops.

Get a Asus.

They are much better built than most of the Toshibas and hp's.

Toshiba used to be good.  The old ones seem to last for ever.  The new ones are very very different.

Use an external drive for cd burning of cds you own.

Thanks guys I very much apreciate the replies and advice.

Any suggestions for a decent readily available and non expensive external drive to match the Asus with Win8?

I would have said Toshiba because they where the ones to get 10 years ago, but now I know, times change
