Can't you rip the files from the CDs and compare?
If the files are identical to the original source then the CDs are OK to use.
If I suspected the bits to be different, I could do that. But this is not my suspicion at all.
I believe the differences in sound are due to the way the laser is reading the discs on playback (different levels of jitter for different types of disc), and/or, the way the bits are being written and stored onto the disc surface (which effects the laser on playback, resulting in different levels of jitter).
I have no proof of this. But I'll bet pounds to peanuts, that the differences have nothing at all to do with the accuracy of the actual 0's or 1's.
