McIntosh 67 tube tuner.

One to look into as well.  I know a local guy with one. Will see if I can try it out.

Quite a bit of surface rust.
It's all about the music,, not the equipment.

Looks pretty, doesn't it.

I'm not in the market for a top end FM tuner.
It's all about the music,, not the equipment.

That one seems to be in very nice condition....
I guess that's a fair price ... might be a bit cheaper to buy from USA but by the time you factor in shipping I'd say it's pretty even.
It's also less likely the glass front will be damaged (always a worry when shipping these) coming from within Australia.
Hard to know which is the best Mac tuner.
The MR67 is said to sound better than the MR71 despite having a 3 gang front end (vs 4 gang for the MR 65 & 71) The MR71 is more sensitive .... I've always fancied an MR67 ... just love how they look and the magic eye really floats my boat.
I have an early MR65 stereo {not b) which sounds nice but does need work. The early MR65 had tube rectification while the b version introduced the nuvistor front end and had a better mpx output stage but had ss rectification.
I'm planning at some stage to send mine down to the guy you recommended in Melbourne.

Hi Steven
MR65b, MR67 and MR71 all had selenium rectifiers.
Earlier MR65s had tube rectifiers but were essentially mono tuners with a bolt in MPX decoder .... this is the one I have.
This MPX decoder was rushed into production when  stereo broadcasting started unfortunately had a transistor to flip phase
in 1 chanel so the path for L & R channel are not perfectly symmetrical.
I guess one could get an external tube mpx adapter like the Scott 335 using the mpx(mono) out from the tuner.

OR    ...........................

Look out for a Scott 310e :)

I have been looking for the Scott 310e, but they have been going for lots of money. Anyway the Mac is now, not an option.

When I bought my MR65 in 2003 ( paid about $350 US shipped) .... I could have bought a 310e for not a lot more.     If I knew then what I know now ..... mind you the exchange rate wasn't so favorable in those days. Have you thought of getting a mono 310 ( c or d) + a 335 mix adapter.  Having a separate tube rectified PS for tuner & output stage(in mpx unit) could be an advantage .... especially if you want to tweak.  :D
