Just wanted to let you know how much I deeply appreciate the help you gave me on the Mingda MC34AB. The popping sound etc was apparently the tubes. I bought some new JJ KT77 to put in them and the problem is gone.
I really appreciate everyone's help.
I am just going to enjoy it for a while before I start the upgrade process.

Don,

Good to hear that all is resolved.

As a quick side note, when I changed my EL34's to KT77's (Gold Lion), I re-set the bias to 0.37v.
