A Place for all things Squeezebox as a transport

Just a little info on the SB Duet as a transport. By what he is saying (and i have read a lot of his stuff so i dont think he BS much) a few mods will turn the SP/DIF into something very very good. I was thinking i would have to tap into the I2S but as it seems i might not have to.

Pete (rabbitz) has made me a new power supply which i will be able to test soon.

I had the chance to listen to a commercial power supply for the duet and it worked wonders to the sound coming from the RCAs. so id tackle the power issue first.

Yep we have done a few caps so far.  I am waiting for a smaller soldering iron tip to arrive.  The it will be a case of securing some more of Tuyen's time.

I reaction to date is that the initial mods have added some more weight to the presentation.  The first step has been worthwhile.

hi mcb,

Thanks for posting the pictures.

I noticed the wireless aerials are wrapped around the crystals. Is that the way they were? It probably won't cause any problems, but it seems strange to me.

Hi Greg,

I thought it looked strange too but I just left them as they were from factory.  Unsure if they had specific purpose being bent around the oscillator chips.

Would love to put that to the ultimate test one day (to my own standard for my own satisfaction.  Each to their own though).
