DIY HiFi Supply Lux91 Mono Max
« on: September 28, 2011, 02:15:58 PM »
What are your guys thoughts on this amp?    I plan to move my horn system into a passive setup sometime in the future, so starting to look at some possible options!  I can tell you that there are many many out there!!!

This amp seems to have decent power output (so has a chance to run my the whole setup including the 15" woofers). Or could look at building a smaller powered amp (<1-4watts) to run the horn channels and run separate amp to power the woofers.

16w power from a 300B, 100dbA dynamic range, 0.4mv output noise, all-film cap power supply, fixed bias, direct coupled reactive interstage, 310a tone as found in the original 91 circuit but with extended bandwidth and power. Super premium parts throughout.

T I haven't had any issues with either my Satch dac or the valve output stage from Diy hi-fi supply however Bronal and a couple of other folk have had some bad problems with the Tram 2 pre which the bought pre-assembled.
I believe Decky on SNA did some rebuild work on the Tram's so it might be worth having a word with him to see if he has any experience with the power amps.

Thanks for the heads-up Gordon.

Nah, I'll pass on the Trafomatic.   Just remembered I have an AudioNote 300B SET integrated sitting underneath my bed. LOL

Only missing is output transformers!!   Hrmm, looking around at prices for decent quality output trannies, thinking maybe shouldn't have given the Electraprint ones I had away so cheap!!   :'(

I started reading 6moons review read this part I am also excited that we are finally able to shake off the crippling 16bit/44kHz Redbook CD standard we never wanted and can get on with 24-bit/192kHz or higher formats. This is the biggest step forward since vinyl LP. Our Cleo USB DAC does 24/192 with tubes because it sounds far better. closed the page
