Warning eBay's Global Shipping Program

stevenvalve:
A Big Warning,  When you buy a tube in the good old USA. sellers often post via eBay's Global Shipping Program, run i believe by the shipping provider, Pitney Bowes Inc. I have now lost two valves through Pitney Bowes eBay's Global Shipping Program, Why,,,,Because a few valves contain Mercury. They have decided to put a blanket ban every tube that is posted through the program to the outside world. So be warned, these idiots will not return the tube even to is original owner to be resent, they just and in their words, (we just Bin it) It has cost me a super rare new in the Box 1930s RCA UX250 globe and a new Mullard 1958 blackburn MC1 12ax7. Just mindless moron stuff and despite being told of the rarity and speciality in the UX250s case, a piece of history gone and lost forever, even the original owner, a well respected tube dealer, said he has never seen a new UX250 in 15 year of selling. They just steal your valves through there stupid ignorance. And the most amazing thing is they do not tell the tube - Valve dealers they are going to impound the items, just let them send and then take them. There is a few of many emails they sent me confirming the stupidity of it all.

Hello Steven,

I don't want you to feel like we are avoiding your questions, Steven. The packages that are shipped through our shipping partners are investigated at random. If the package is not opened there is a chance that it will make it through the hub. If the package does get reviewed and contains vacuum tubes, it will be stopped. I can't say why your package in particular was stopped and fallen subject to the restriction.
Best Regards,

Hello Steven,

My name is Bear with eBay's Global Shipping Program and I wanted to follow up with you regarding your concern. At this time I understand you purchased a RCA Radiotron Vacuum tube; item 152734027813, through the Global Shipping Program, but you have now been issued a full refund and the transaction has been canceled, and you're not quite sure why. I can definitely understand how that would not only be extremely concerning, but very frustrating as well so I've looked closer into this to see what I can do to help.

Looking into this transaction, if an item arrives to our hub and it  is under one of our restricted categories,  our hub will not proceed with the shipment and will liquidate(not destroy) the item in order retrieve some asset back. A refund will be issued to both parties, and the transaction will be considered complete.

In this particular case, the problem is with the tube itself. There are a number of vintage vacuum tubes that were manufactured with mercury, heavy metals, or radioactive materials, that can become hazardous if the tube were to be broken. I understand that this particular tube may not contain the materials in question, but this is not something that can be easily determined. For safety reasons, our shipping partner, Pitney Bowes, has restricted them from being shipped.

I realize this does nothing to curb your frustration, but wanted to at least let you know why it happened.  If there was a way to request that an exception be made, I would gladly do so in this situation, but because a third party is involved, we must abide by their policies and procedures, especially where international trade law is involved.

I hope this helps you understand why the transaction has been canceled and we are not able to forward this item to you.

It's been a pleasure working with you, and I hope you have a great day!

Ok so I talked to customer service. I got transferred around and talk to a bunch of people. Basically what they are telling me is that the Australian customs restricts tubes from being shipped there....which I know is a load of garbage because I have shipped hundreds of different tubes there before. But because it was restricted I cannot get the item back and basically they are now going to dispose of it! So they beautiful super rare tube is going to be thrown in the trash. I cannot believe this. They assured me that you have received a refund for the purchase price so that makes it better that at least there is no money lost for this transaction but boy is it depressing to hear that this is just lost due to some stupid rule or misunderstanding of what the item is. I'm very very sorry I hope you understand that this pains me as much as it does you and I had nothing to do with this dumb decision being made. If I hear anything else or I am somehow able to get the item back I will let you know.

And so what is the case if you buy new current manufacture tubes?
Does this only apply to Ebay and their global shipping partner.
What a load of sh!t. They inject pregnant woman and babies with
flu shots and vaccines containing mercury and the poor old vacuum tube
is not safe...what about the power saving flouro light bulbs...are they made
in Australia, I doubt it.

vitavoxdude:
Wow, so someone else is 'up on the vaccines scam' that poisons innocents >:( >:( >:(.  Just stupid about the valves as the amounts of mercury is relatively tiny, but that's where common and sense does not go together, it's either black or white and nothing in between, I hate governments for this as they should be doing something more worthwhile.  When I came into oz a brand new pair of trainers tried on once where said to be contaminated, when I asked to see them I looked real hard and well, I guess they fitted a family member..................... :'(

Very disturbing Steven....... Its criminal what they doing, with this global shipping program.
