Another cap question -
« on: December 30, 2011, 11:33:23 AM »
Yes folks, it scratch the itch to tinker time again  ::)
The cap to ground from the plate of the upper triode of the input cascode pair is a no-name 10uf elytic 450v.
I had been thinking of changing them out for a pair of Obbligato film in oil (rather macho things) but had the thought that a pair of Jensen axial electro might be another option at a comparable price.
I have previously bypassed the electros with a pair of small polystyrene and have a sneaking suspicion I should have added a small resistor in that bypass.
Whatever, any thoughts on the probable better choice in this application welcomed.

A , I recently replaced a 100uf Jensen electrolytic in my pre amp psu with 100uf of the Obligatto film oil (70&30uf) and felt the sound was better. More solidity and weight.
Listening with my ears :)

Thanks for that G, I rather suspected that might be the case.
Looks like I will have to work out how to hang the wretched things.
