i just swapped caps on the 12v input from a elna 3800uf to dubilier 8uf (vintage) i prefer the dubilier its just has more smoothness sounds more liquid and to my ears engaging less hifi more you are their.
start collecting dubilier caps people for clocks.(and yes my trichord had a dubiler aswell)

I nearly have all the parts ready to build 1 (en route).

* Low jitter crystal,  tick
* Bread board, tick
* Regulator, tick
* Battery power supply, tick
* Socket, [not yet]
* Cap, dubilier, tick.

Is there anything else Mario?

Mario, not sure about the cap,  it's too big for my 960.   Can you recommend a really good smaller cap that will fit on the bread board?     Either that,  or I could consider removing the un-needed analog output section altogether, to create space?

Analogue section out great idea oz less siting on the power supply is better.try film and foil caps aswell its all system dependent.

Hmm, kids, mortgage and single income are a major handicap when it comes to having spare cashflow.

Mario, I laughed when you first posted the comment about being married and spare cash.  I could relate to that one.

For me, it wasnt when I got married that was the issue with surplus cash.    Married and no kids = 2 incomes and everyone is rolling in it (dink'ing has its upsides).     Having kids changes our priorities, dropping to a single income compounds things.    But I wouldnt have it any other way.
