How bout switchable oscillators to match different tastes or music?  ;D
come around one day i will give you a demo of diffrent crystals

Which one do you prefer?

Phase noise (jitter) measuring equipment is very expensive otherwise we could just measure
the oscillators that sound best and see whether people prefer ultra low jitter or whether some
type of noise distribution is more pleasing.

Here's something else which is interesting:

http://www.jitter.de/english/engc_navfr.html

Go to "What is Jisco" (on left)

This is what is called a jitter de correlator. By adding HF noise to the
oscillator, jitter is supposedly decorelated or turned into noise itself.

As you can see it's a pretty complex subject.

it's just a basic (reference) implementation of the TL431 regulator diode, see page 6 of the datasheet: http://www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/TL%2FTL431.pdf

it will be ok, certainly a lot better than an LM317

better in noise?
or a more involving sound?

Hi Kayak,

I recently had a very nice experiment by changing the bridge rectifier with MUR's (IIRC 405's..).
Did you experiment with your 2W04 ??

i am forced to make my own clocks as i cant afford the high end gear prices

I can afford high end gear prices but..... I force myself.... to make my own gear, since I believe that you can quickly reach a far higher level than "the expensive gear"...

I agree it takes a lot more to reach the "ultra expensive gear" but do not think that it is impossible... ;)

i dont use a bridge rectifier in my clock power supply no need when you feed it 12v car battery

Hang on, I've got all these parts sitting around waiting to make a Kajak clock ! You can't pull the plug on me now !    :P  ;D
It's all about the music,, not the equipment.
