Mark Levinson transports?
« on: January 22, 2012, 10:24:37 AM »
My brother has a Mark Levinson 36s DAC, siuts his system really well not too in your face compared to other gear he has tried.
So he's thinking about a Mark Levinson 37 transport. Impossible to audition, and, they are pricey so I'm trying to talk him out of it, and grab a transport with cdm1 instead (my unmodified Micro Seiki sounds pretty good with his system).

Has anyone here heard a ML transport? Thought I'd ask here before anywhere else cause I like the no BS approach on this forum 8). I understand these things should be auditioned in your system to really know, but any experiences would be appreciated! Thanks.

The trouble with any new transports, the mechanism is not made to last like the old ones, Most of the newer ones need laser replacement often, The Mark Levinson transports i have heard, have been on the accurate and analytical side. The way things are today i would not fork out on any big money transport with all the new stuff around, computer audio, wave players, streamers. I am not saying it good enough at the moment, but may well be soon.

Thanks Steven. The ML 37 is from around 1997, so not so new, but not so old either. Either way I'll keep trying to talk him out of it :D

*Still got to give you a buzz Steven, I've been real busy, I might get some spare time through the week.
