Some people do not have to work for a living and others do not live in the real world LOL.  They must either be a merchant banker or work for the American depatrment of bullsh!t. :'(

You hit the nail on head 'V'.

I'm sure I have seen these and many other 'crazy toobs' in various old amps that come through here.

A guy I know bought an old Wasp 200 head, yanked the 4 x GEC KT88's, sold em for 4 x amp price.

He reckons the new tubes sounded better - he was a happy camper :)

Ha Ha what bullsh!t, Those RCA's have not even got triple mica supports. This is a better pair "Matched Pair RCA 5751 Black Plates 3 Mica Square Getter=12AX7,ECC83 7025 TUBES" ebay 130810896022 and they are still a rip off at WAIT for it $134.06 BIN.
A quick internet  search will show anyone that the most desirable 5751 is the SYLVANIA GOLD BRAND 5751 WA with the grey plates and the gold pins and even these only go for $3-400 a pair NOS.

Yeah Terry  :) :) :) and I am not particularly fond of those buy it cheap, rip out the guts and sell it off LARGE types as it goes against the spirit of most of what I stand for  :-X..............Whilst I accept everyone loves a bargain, to give something of value to its recipient is a precious thing and not to be scoffed at.  So many try to take advantage of true enthusiasts by buy cheap sell expensive.  Good job not too many frequent these hallowed pages.

I don't know if anyone here has bought from the siberian-shop  http://myworld.ebay.com.au/siberian-shop/ but my mate ordered 4 x 6n1's and 4 x 6N2's Russian's, they arrived wrapped in a little soft styrene and masking tape around them, only the masking tape covered the top and bottom of the valves, three had bent pins, one had a bit of It's nipple chipped of, and some of the remaining 4 were faulty :(

Nasty!

Update....OK, they sent 4 to replace the 4 damaged ones, only after I backed him on the poor packaging and damage.

Packaging was not a lot different, some thin stuff to protect the top and bottoms this time instead of just masking tape, I guess these guys in that part of the world need to make a living under difficult circumstances.

Well the valves are cheap over there, and if one is broken there is plenty more. I send expensive tubes round the world and cant afford to brake the unobtainiom, because there is no more.

I need a back up U52 and was thinking about bidding on this one. Is anyone else planning to go for this? If they are I'll leave it alone and get another later.

Well I'm $200 poorer but hopefully I have a decent backup U52. With a bit of luck it wont get shaken too much on its way to Coffs.

[fingers crossed] Should be right.   Nice work,  that's a good price for a brown base U52.

Yeah I hope so Oz. I'm very happy with the one I have but its a bit daunting using it too much without a backup.
Over using hasnt been a problem for a while though as My Wadia transport has had a full service with some mods and is now is eagerly anticipating a new Zen clock which should be ready soon. Hence the Killer hasnt been powered up for some months. Still its made a nice change getting back into some older vinyl as well as some SACDs.
